THE BODY

This Unit is about The Body, kids must know how the parts of the body are called. Is one of the most important vocabulary the children must learn. 

We have started making a brainstorming in class with some vocabulary about the parts of the body in an online program called TAGXEDO in order to know which words they know. 

This was the result: 










































They had fun doing this and all of them wanted to write on the program and that is why they participate saying words. Is a good methodology in order to promote participation. The new technologies are a great motivation.

WORKSHEETS

After kids start to recognize some parts of the body they are going to be able to do it also in others. The activity consists of writing the correct part of the body in the line. Each child will have two Worksheet one of the whole body and the other only of the face. 


Some of them can have difficulties but with the time they will be able to write the correct word. They can also draw them if they want.

SONG

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

Singing is one of the things children like most and is the best way to review the new vocabulary. This song is one of the most famous one to practise the parts of the body. 


Kids love to sing and make gestures. They have fun singing all together and they want to sing it again and again.

CRAFTS

Before finishing this topic I decided to do with my class a small craft to be relaxed and create your own character. The first thing is that kids must choose between a girl or a boy. Afterwards they must paint all the parts of the body and say them a loud. They can use crayons, paint or colored pencils. When they have finished they cut the different parts and put them together with a tie pin. 


Now your doll is finished and you can move the parts of the body depending on what your partner says too you.

Kids were happy with their new doll and wanted to play with them, but the most important thing they had fun doing it by themselves! Then we hang them around the class to decorate it a little bit.
